EVOO laptop manufacturer warranty

Rather than a video, I wanted to start a conversation here with our NBR community. If need be Ill carry this over to YouTube.

EVOO, too good to be true? Why Im not covering it?

Its a TongFang chassis reviewed by Matthew Moniz as the MainGear version. Retails for $1499 at MC and had a sale for $1199 as a promotion for a short time as well.

Its being sold at a loss just like last years OP laptop however Im unfamiliar with the EVOO chassis hands on.

With the OP I was able to guide the consumer to a location where they could get help because the chassis was a tried and true design that had been around for a little bit. Many were concerned and I was clear that even if OP doesnt support their hardware from an update/Bios standpoint at least we have several 3rd party vendors who sell that laptop chassis and well still get updates that way, even if we need to flash their bios which I did do.

Fast forward to mid 2019 and viewers comment that their OP laptop is BSOD and needs updates that are not available. Then I send them to the forums where they get help, hopefully. Not a widespread case however, probably more related to the wonky Windows updates. Curse you 1903!!! Lol

The OP laptop seems to be relatively reliable with little complaints but some have required warranty work. Some with luck and others not.

I dont understand whats going on with the EVOO laptop and why its sold at this insane price. With the OP, at the time it seemed that universally the community felt that since their desktop solutions were a train wreck, they were selling their laptops to regain community faith.

But this crazy price strikes again with the brand EVOO and I have to ask why? (Speculation begins) As a business owner myself, maybe its a tax trick. When you buy and sell at a loss you can write off the difference. That might be something the company needs on their portfolio for tax season. At the same time it makes Walmart look wonderful and helps them too (speculation ends)

I do know that Walmart intends on making a big push into this market. But the loss is real. Im 100% positive on that too.

On one hand Id love to be the one to cover this ridiculous deal! But I was called a Walmart shill, fraud and everything else about the OP and it took a ton of effort chasing this down to not compromise my integrity. Looking for and replying to comments on the channel and elsewhere. Heck at one point I had about ten videos on OP laptops. When you google search Bob Of All Trades Im known for the undervolt tutorial and OP laptops... Im not sure if I want to be associated with this again the more I think about it.

Protecting your integrity while being the one who people go to when their OP laptop has problems has been a huge time consuming headache.

Im more interested in what you think of this topic as discussed in this post more so than what you think of the actual laptop. But Ill enjoy your comments either way

Mods, Im aware this isnt a clean location and perhaps better suited in the thread discussion about this specific chassis. Id rather this get deleted instead of lost in pages of user posts. I have the main body pre-written to copy and paste should that be the case so no worries on my end.
Never from a single manufacturer. It was viewers, various communities and YouTube comments across several channels including mine. I was so excited about the deal, there was a LARGE assumption that I was a Walmart employee making a profit on these. It got really ugly on Slickdeals for example.

Now I get help me posts because their laptop no longer works, had its webcam smoke and burn a hole in the bezel (true story and I had pics too) BSOD, needs updates or warranty work.

Now obviously these arent bad laptops and Im not saying they are at all. I wouldnt have my mom using one if they were trash. But a massive amount of these sold so its natural to see some failures. The issue is that Im now the target for these failures in many eyes. OP has gone bye bye or so Ive been told making me the next in line for help and believe me, Ive been asked a few questions over the last few months lol.

While I do my best to direct the OP owner to the main thread on this very forum, I will not participate in another go pushing for a laptop that will very likely follow the same path as OP.

Evoo owners have been giving me feedback and are disappointed with the lack of service, product updates (lack there of) non working camera (Windows Hello) poor battery (its small so I personally expected this) and underwhelming build quality. Their words not mine.

These are Tongfang laptops supplied by MainGear. Ive seen and used one at our local Microcenter just yesterday and for the money at Walmart, its pretty good. But it didnt exactly scream Predator Helios 300 for build quality (just using this as a reference due to great price too). It felt a little flimsy.
