Cosrx hyaluronic acid intensive cream review

Hello and welcome to another skincare review! 🙂 This time I will be reviewing the Cosrx Hyaluronic Acid Intensive Cream which, as a person with combo-dry skin, sounds promising!

Previously, I have had a bit of a hit or miss with Cosrx products, which I’m sad to say since I love the minimal ingredients lists and the fact they are cruelty free and against animal testing! For instance, I am a big fan of their Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask however I did not enjoy the Ultimate Moisturizing Honey Overnight Mask as much

Let’s see how this hyaluronic acid cream compares…

The Product:

Type: Moisturizer

Volume: 100g

Recommended skin type: Dry or dehydrated skin, sensitive skin

Key Features:

\> Retains Moisture

Hippophae rhamnoides water [57.8%] and hyaluronic acid [3,000 ppm] provides nourishing moisture to the skin witout feeling oily or heavy

\> Creates a plump, youthful look

Hyaluronic acid helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by filling skin with moisture – the skin will look plumper, smoother and more glowy

\> Minimal Ingredients

Gentle formula for those with sensitive skin

Full Ingredients List:

Hippophae Rhamnoides Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Betaine, Helianthus Annuus [Sunflower] Seed Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Arginine, Panthenol, Dimethicone, Ethylhexylglycerin, Carbomer, Allantoin, Xanthan Gum

The Packaging:

The cream comes in a translucent plastic tub with a screw on lid.

Inside, there is a white plastic lid which is meant to keep the product fresh and more hygienic, I suppose? Though it kind of defeats the purpose that it doesn’t come with a spatula to apply the cream

The Consistency:

This cream is a medium consistency and feels like a gel cream when spread on the skin. It has a cooling effect and it leaves a light layer behind which takes a few minutes to absorb in [see 3rd pic]. The 4th pic is about 1 minute after the 3rd pic.

There is no scent to the cream which is a big plus for me, and it feels very light and hydrating on the skin.

The Performance:

After applying the cream onto the skin, it is quite easy to spread and rub in, whether the skin is dry or wet. I tried it both ways since I thought there might be a difference but I cannot say I noticed anything in particular.

I find the cream forms a light moisturising layer on the skin at first then takes about 5 minutes to fully absorb in, but it still feels slightly tacky. This is good if you are applying if before sleeping because you won’t have to worry about product transferring onto your pillow!

After several weeks of using this cream [twice a day, morning and evening], my skin does not have any visible dry patches nor does it feel particularly more moisturized than before I started using this cream.

Pros:

No scent

Lightweight and cooling

Good amount of product – 100g!

Cons:

Not “intensely” moisturising

Not as hygienic as tube packaging

Overall Rating:

3/5

Honestly this product was rather underwhelming for me I had high hopes for the Cosrx Hyaluronic Acid Intensive Cream – a super moisturizing cream which would make a big difference to my skin? However it didn’t seem to have much of an effect on my combo-dry skin 😦

It has a short ingredient list, no fragrance and feels light on the skin, though I am not a fan of the tub packaging and did not feel it was intensely moisturizing.

All in all, I feel like there are better moisturizers out there if you have dry skin so I would give this one a pass! If you have oily or combination skin, this cream might be moisturizing enough for you 🙂

pretty good

I did not notice any additional benefits when switching to this cream from my FAB cream. I generally have great experiences with cosrx products, so this was surprising. Still a good nighttime option, and very moisturizing.

I needed an intensely hydrating moisturizer when I was on retinol, and this worked perfectly.

Really like but not a love

4

I liked this moisturizer a lot, but it just didn't work as well as I had hoped- it wasn't as long-lasting on me and didn't really help with the dryness I was experiencing from prescription retinol. I really love CosRX though, and you can tell this product is a really great quality, especially for the price point.

I love this moisturizer! It's such a good quality and you can't beat the price! When I started using a retinoid, my skin got super sensitive and dry/flaky and this moisturizer really saved me. I wake up feeling super hydrated. Definitely recommend!

So good

I bought this in South Korea a couple years ago in a big sweep of skincare purchases and, at first, I didn't think I was that impressed. I think I had been using too much. I focused too hard on the novelty ingredients of other products. I came back to it when other products ran out and was really happy with it. It lasts about 6 months for me. I use it day and night, after cleansing. It's light enough for summer, nourishing enough for winter, and I tend to recommend it to friends. My sensitive, acne-prone skin feels soft and plump. I really can't think of another product like this and it's cheap for how long it lasts.

Won't break you out

Fantastic, fragrance-free option for those with dry and sensitive skin. I wake up to glowing plump skin after only a week of use. Minus one star for sitting on the skin longer than your average moisturizer.

Extremely hydrating. Perfect before a thicker moisturizer in dry weather and on its own in humid climates.

Not that effective to be deeply

Is it moisturizing? Yes! not sure if they changed it, but the description wrote this lightweight moisturizer would be deeply moisturizing. It's fine, like a summertime one, rather than a dry winter one.
