Requirements
- Dell XPS 15 [tested on 9570, but probably will work for older models]
- Windows 10 x64 [I'm using latest 17143 build]
- Patience
- Backup [in case you mess up something]
Steps
- If your Windows 10 is bloated or you are using stock Dell's Windows installation. Just make bootable Windows 10 [I recommend latest avaliable build iso, there are plenty guides online] usb drive [I recommend rufus], after getting drivers for wifi and RAID [or just switch do AHCI mode like I did] to be safe and make clean install.
- Carefully perform steps mentioned in Kevin Shroff's awesome guide. I've used 3.0.2 version of his modified drivers.
- Make sure [again] you disabled Waves MaxxAudio Service Application and Realtek HD Audio Universal Service in startup tap of Task Manager.
- Stop and Turn of Waves Audio Serices [fixes audio watching Youtube clips] and Realtek Audio Universal Service [fixes audio during Cinebench benchmarking and other loads] in Windows Services Manager.
- Check if after reboot any key you were to look for [and change to] has reverted to default value and if so replace it with ff ff ff ff instead of ff ff ff. Source: Fix sound popping issues in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, backup hosted by web.archive.org.
On my laptop it was:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4d36e96c-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0012\PowerSettings - Reboot.
- Test if issue is fixed.
01.11.2018 Update
This doesn't seem to work anymore after a month of usage. I didn't found fully working solution. I started to hear cracking sound yesterday and it doesn't seeem to be related to Win10 October update [because audio was okay for few weeks or so].

Kính chào anh chị Tinhte Hiện em đang dùng máy Laptop Dell XPS 9570, sau khi cài lại Window [10&11] bị lỗi âm thanh như sau [1] Trong quá trình cài Window thì thiết bị vẫn phát ra âm thanh, có nghe thấy tiếng Catona nói rất rõ, tuy nhiên sau khi cài đặt hoàn thành thì âm thanh hoàn toàn bị mất và biểu tượng Speaker ở thanh Taskbar chuyển sang dấu X màu đỏ, chạy kiểm tra lỗi thì không phát hiện được gì [2] Vào trang web của Dell tải driver mới và cập nhật các phần mềm mới bao gồm cả Driver, cài xong khỏi động lên thì có sound trong vài giây đầu, sau đó lại mất sound và biểu tượng Speaker lại chuyển sang dấu “x” màu đỏ, cho máy kiểm tra thì k xác định được lỗi. Em đã tiến hành cài đi cài lại, Update rồi hạ date vẫn không được, vậy kính mong cộng đồng mình ai đang sử dụng dell XPS có lỗi tương tự chỉ dùm em cách sửa lỗi này với ah.
