I. Flow Chart Completion trong đề IELTS Listening là gì?

Dạng đề FLOW CHART COMPLETION có thể là một quá trình [process], một kết hoạch [plan] hoặc một chuỗi sự kiện [sequence of events] yêu cầu thí sinh phải hoàn thành bằng cách:

• Chọn ra các lựa chọn đúng A, B, C
• Viết từ còn thiếu vào chỗ trống.

II. Chiến lược làm bài IELTS Listening

Bước 1:

Đọc yêu cầu đễ bài kĩ lưỡng, chú ý số từ tối đa được điền vào chỗ trống đối với dạng câu hỏi điền từ.

Bước 2:

Đọc sơ lược tên biểu đồ và số lượng các giai đoạn [stages] trong sơ đồ.

Gạch chân từ khóa [KEYWORDS] cho mỗi bước và đoán các từ đồng nghĩa.

Bước 3:

Dựa vào ngữ pháp của câu để đoán câu trả lời

Bước 4:

Trả lời câu hỏi trong quá trình nghe.

Cách thực hiện chiến lược này như thế nào sẽ được trình bày trong hướng dẫn cụ thể dưới đây.

Đầu tiên, xác định yêu cầu đề bài chọn 5 câu trả lời tương ứng với các chữ cái từ A-G

Sau đó, tìm hiểu sơ đồ. Sơ đồ liên quan đến những công việc mà James phải làmđể hoàn thành bài viết về người Vikings

Có 5 stages trong bài, chúng ta sẽ gạch chân keywords và tìm từ đồng nghĩa cho từng stage.

Stage 1: Hell read a 1. and choose his topic.

Choose his topic = decide what he will write about

Stage 2: Hell borrow a 2.. from Beth.

Hell borrow a from Beth = Beth will give him a.

Câu hỏi 1 và 2 cần điền Danh từ số ít, vì vậy câu A bullet points và C- notes không phù hợp cho hai câu này.

Stage 3: Hell plan the 3.. of the paper.

Plan = work on

Paper= essay, assignment, homework

Câu 3 liên quan đến giấy [paper], vì vậy, câu B film, E student paper, F- textbook và G- documentary có thể không liên quan.

Stage 4: Hell read some source material and write 4..

Câu 4 nói về cái gì đó mà James sẽ viết. Vì không có bất kì mạo từ [a, an, the] nào phía sau nên chỗ trống này chắc chắn là một danh từ số nhiều hoặc danh từ không đếm được. Do đó, câu trả lời cho có thể là A- bullet points hoặc C- notes.

Stage 5: Hell write the paper using 5

Câu 5 tương tự như câu 4 nên câu trả lời có thể là A- bullet points hoặc C- notes vì không có giới từ sau using.

Sau khi đã phân tích các câu như trên, bước cuối cùng là lắng nghe thật kĩ và chọn câu trả lời đúng.

REZA: Hi Mike.

MIKE: Hi Reza, this is Helen.

HELEN: Hello!

MIKE: Were really pleased youve agreed to join us on this film project.

HELEN: Yes, your experience is going to be so useful.

REZA: Well, I hope so. Its the technical side I know best-lighting, sound and stuff.

MIKE: But you think the script is OK?

REZA: Yes, I think its great! Um, have you decided where youre going to shoot?

HELEN: Well, theres the water-mill scene at the end. And weve thought about some

locations in town we can use. Theyre behind the shopping mall and on a couple of residential streets. And in an empty shop on campus. It means we dont have to worry about getting permission from a shop owner.

MIKE: So 1-do you think we should go to all the locations with you?

REZA: It would be a good idea. We need to talk about the levels of background noise so

we know theyre all going to be reasonable places to film.

MIKE: But the sounds of traffic will make it more nature.

HELEN: I think Reza means things like aeroplanes, trains and so on that would mean we have

to stop filming.

REZA: Exactly. And also Ill make notes for myself about what lighting Im going to need. I think the university department has a good range of equipment, but Ill need to make a list for each location for my own reference. Anyway, once weve had a look around, 2-you can do the roadworks check.

MIKE: What do you mean?

REZA: You need to find out about building work or roadworks. Because you could start filming one day and come back in the morning to find one of the roads has been dug up! The local council have to be informed about things like that so you can find out from them.

MIKE: OK. Then I think we need to work from the script and put together a list of all the

scenes and decide which ones were going to film when. We need to 3-prepare the shooting schedule, day by day.

REZA: Youre right. Then when you know how long filming is going to last, you can tell everyone when theyre needed.

HELEN: OK, so as soon as we can, well audition, and then when we contact people to offer them parts we can send the exact dates and 4-make really sure they are free. Because often the actors are all enthusiastic but then when you try to pin them down about whether theyre really free at that time, you find theyve got exams or something, or theyre off to a festival just before and you have to rush about looking for replacement.

MIKE: Then, we need people who can take over the main parts if one of our stars falls ill or something.

REZA: Yes, I agree. So offer the main parts to the people we really want, and then look at

other volunteers who were OK.

HELEN: Yes. We can 5-select the understudies once the main roles have been confirmed.

So, once weve got the sorted and weve held all the rehearsals of the main scens, well be ready to start filming.

REZA: Yes, that sounds good. Anything else?

MIKE: Er, well, just housekeeping, really. We dont actually need costumes because actors will wear their own clothes. 6-My family has agreed to lend us some pieces of furniture which we need, so well go and fetch those the weekend before we start.

HELEN: Well provide food and drink during shooting so Im going to borrow some cool-boxes.

MIKE: And Ive got a little van. Most of the locations are within walking distance of the halls of residence anyway. The only one further away is the water-mill.

REZA: Ah, yes, can you tell me about that?

MIKE: Um, OK. Er, hang on a minute, Ill get my notes. Theres a plan in them.
