1. Cách sử dụng beside và besides trong tiếng Anh

Beside

Beside trong tiếng Anh đóng vai trò là một giới từ [preposition], nó mang nghĩa tương tự với close to, near or next to là gần, bên cạnh. Nó chính là giới từ chỉ vị trí địa lý để liên kết 2 danh từ với nhau. beside thường được đứng ở giữa câu, sau động từ và trước một danh từ còn lại ở trong câu.

Bởi vậy, chúng ta có cấu trúc: Beside + Danh từ [Noun]

• Come and sit beside me
• Your shirt is beside the closet
• Dont sit beside us, we dont want to catch cold from you
• Rose was too angry to sit beside Sam
• Beside all of the birthday cake, the dog ate the ice cream
• There was a small table beside the bed, on which there was a book
• Jim sat beside his girlfriend all night
• My painting looks childish beside yours
• Beside other technologies, AI is considered to be the most advanced technology

Besides

Besides được cấu thành từ beside và s, nó được sử dụng trong hai trường hợp: vừa là có thể giới từ [preposition], và có thể là một trạng từ [adverb] trong tình huống khác.

Khi đóng vai trò là một giới từ, Besides sẽ được hiểu là apart from ngoài ra, ngoại trừ, in addition to thêm vào. Tương tự như vị trí của beside, lúc này, chúng ta sẽ sử dụng cấu trúc sau : Besides + Danh từ [ Noun]:

• Besides Anna, who else went to the concert?
• Besides, theres more than meets the eye-
• Besides the teachers and the principal, a few selected students will be going for the trip-
• Besides all the food, the kids heartily drank the juice .
• What other sports do you play besides volleyball? Ngoài bóng chuyển, bạn có chơi được môn thể thao khác không ?

Trong trường hợp Besides đóng vai trò như một trạng từ, nó sẽ có nghĩa là furthermore hơn nữa hoặc another something một thứ khác nữa, hơn nữa. Nó thường được đứng ở đầu câu, có thể sử dụng dấu phẩy đi sau besides. Khi là một trạng từ, chúng ta sẽ co cấu trúc: Besides + Mệnh đề

• Its too early to take a shower. Besides, the water is too cold now
