I’m grading on a curve here, because it’s unfair of me to give an item a D just because it caused my face to breakout. Obviously, it’s a definite dislike for my personal use because my skin did not like the ingredients, but I was admittedly disappointed once I realized that. I wanted to like this foundation. I wanted to try it out for a few months and experiment with ways to make it work. My skin had other plans, which is surprising because my skin rarely breaks out from a product. Show Maybelline’s Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation has been widely discussed and raved about, so I do wish I could have at least tested it out longer than my skin allowed. It was extremely affordable (I only paid $4 for it, believe it or not), and it started off with a nice finish upon first application. One other highlight for the foundation other than the low price is the consistency. The liquidity of the formula helped it feel lightweight, while still providing light to medium coverage. Because it isn’t thick like Revlon Colorstay, a little goes a long way. Like most thin foundations, it’s best to use either your fingers or a brush to apply the product instead of a beauty blender. Moving on to the things I didn’t care for, I didn’t like the short-term wear this foundation provided. There are a lot of great drugstore foundations that have staying power, so I was disappointed with how quickly Maybelline Fit Me started to wear off. It lasted around 3-5 hours before looking like it was patchy and feeling like it was sliding off of my face. For those of us with full-time work hours, longevity is important. As for the matte and poreless claim, it absolutely started off that way. Unfortunately, I did have to blot around the 3-hour mark. Maybe even a little sooner than that. I would suggest carrying blot papers or a touch-up powder with you when wearing this foundation to avoid the slippery feeling. If your skin agrees with Maybelline foundation, I would recommend trying it once just to see what the hype is all about, but I do encourage you to lower your expectations. Beauty Bulletin

I remember going to Dischem to purchase my monthly toiletries. When I go to Dischem I always pass through the makeup aisle just to see which products are available and to window shop and to my surprise, South Africa has the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation and Powder! Guess what? They had it in my shade colour 365 which happens to be the darkest shade. Darker shades of foundations are a mission to find in South Africa which I think is ridiculous but I was very pleased to find my shade which matches me so perfectly. Maybelline, thank you for your wide range of different shades. Us, dark skinned women appreciate you. The Foundation is R99,00 at Clicks and Dischem. The Maybelline Foundation and Powder is said to be matte, ideal for normal to oily skin types and it has micro-powders to control shine and blur pores making it a pore minimising foundation. For me, the foundation has a very runny consistency. The coverage is not that full, so you might have to apply at least two layers of foundation, but I can assure you it will not give you the “cakey” look. With regards to it being matte, I noticed after a few hours I get oily around my T-Zone area. If you use the powder after the foundation it helps with the oil production but not that much. The powder helps you achieve a flawless look. My powder shade is 370 (espresso) which is also the darkest shade. The powder is R99,00 at any Clicks or Dischem store. To achieve a completely flawless look I also use the Maybelline Baby Skin Primer and Maybelline Super Stay Finishing Spray. The primer helps smooth pores and also assists with oil production. The primer is available at Clicks and Dischem stores for the price of R99,00. To lock in my final look, I use the finishing spray which is available for R149,00 at selected Clicks and Dischem stores. Is Maybelline Fit Me good or bad?Overall, this is a nice drugstore brand of foundation. It will give you light to med coverage, and the color match was spot on. I have really oily skin, so this product only lasted a few hours in a matte finish, afterwards I got the shiny forehead and nose that I typically do with store bought foundations.
